Best Fits For Hugo Gonzalez In The 2025 NBA Draft

May 1, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

With each passing season, the NBA Draft has seen an increase in international prospects year after year. The 2025 NBA Draft is no different, and there are many talented international prospects. One particular prospect that stands out is Real Madrid forward Hugo Gonzalez. Despite playing limited minutes, Gonzalez has demonstrated himself to be an athletic wing who has the potential to be a good two-way player in the league. The six-foot-seven wing has excellent defensive ability, finishing skills, and great physical tools. Not only that, but Gonzalez has flashed some potential as a shooter. His ideal size, skills, and overall potential will attract interest from teams and have made Gonzalez a projected first-rounder on many draft boards. Let’s dive into the best fits for Hugo Gonzalez among teams in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Best Fits For Hugo Gonzalez In The 2025 NBA Draft

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets would be a great landing spot for Gonzalez and his development. The Nets would get a high-upside player in Gonzalez, which is exactly what the franchise needs right now. Specifically, they lack a crop of talented young prospects that can serve as the foundation for Nets basketball for the long term. Alongside the other draft picks that the Nets have this year, Gonzalez certainly has the potential to be a valuable player for the team. Every team needs players who can be a high-level 3-and-D wing, and Gonzalez can be that with development to his shooting. If Gonzalez can reach his potential, then Brooklyn will have a steal of a player.

Gonzalez himself will benefit from being drafted to Brooklyn. Namely, Gonzalez will see his development prioritized over winning and he will have time to develop. Given that he didn’t see much playing time with Real Madrid, getting time to play and develop will be good for him. There won’t be heavy competition for minutes there either. Overall, Brooklyn will be a good fit for Gonzalez as a developmental project.

Utah Jazz

Another team that can use Gonzalez’s services is the Utah Jazz. The team is essentially devoid of perimeter defense among their guards and wings. Drafting Gonzalez can serve as a way to help alleviate that issue, as he is a good defender who plays defense with an excellent motor. With great positional size, defense, and shooting potential, Gonzalez would work well as a 3-and-D wing for the team. As for Gonzalez, the Jazz are in a similar position to the Nets. That means he will have the time to develop his skills without expectations. Plus, his defensive abilities separate him from the other perimeter players of the team. He will earn minutes just off of that. Given his skills and potential, Gonzalez heading to Utah would work out for both the team and the player.

Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks would also make a good fit for Gonzalez and what he does well. The team can use an athletic wing that provides defense around Trae Young. Atlanta will always need more perimeter defense around Young, and his athleticism will also be utilized on offense as well. If his shot comes around, Gonzalez would be the perfect role player to put around Young. Playing for the Hawks, Gonzalez will get many great scoring opportunities due to the command of attention that Young receives from the defense. Also, Gonzalez will be an excellent option in transition for Young, given his athleticism and finishing skill. If Gonzalez’s development works out, he will be on the Hawks for a long time.
