Best Fits For Thomas Sorber In The 2025 NBA Draft

March 4, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

Despite suffering a season-ending foot injury, Georgetown big Thomas Sorber has put together an excellent freshman season. Specifically, his ability to be a threat on both sides of the floor has made Sorber a highly-ranked prospect. Not only that, but Sorber has been mocked as a first-round pick in many mock drafts due to his skills and talent. Unquestionably, with what he brings to the table as a big, Sorber can fit well on numerous teams. Let’s dive into the best fits for Thomas Sorber among the teams currently owning first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Best Fits For Thomas Sorber In The 2025 NBA Draft

Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers would make an excellent fit for Sorber, and they need someone with his skills. In particular, the Pacers desperately need a big who can be a strong defender behind Myles Turner. Standing at six-foot-ten, Sorber has been a consistent shot-blocker for the Georgetown Hoyas, utilizing his length to bother shots at the rim. Furthermore, Sorber has also used his length to disrupt passing lanes and rack up steals. He has excelled in drop coverage and has shown that he can move his feet decently well on occasion. Given his excellence as a defender, the Pacers need someone like Sorber to shore up their bench defense.

On offense, Sorber will slot in well next to players like Tyrese Haliburton and Andrew Nembhard. Sorber can serve well as a roller or low-post scorer, where he possesses excellent touch around the rim. Not only that, but he has shown potential as a mid-range shooter who could eventually be a three-point shooter. Additionally, Sorber has great passing vision and can serve as an offensive hub. Given those skills, he can work well in tandem with Haliburton or Nembhard in orchestrating the offense for the Pacers.

Los Angeles Clippers

Sorber would also fit well with the Los Angeles Clippers and its roster. The Clippers, like the Pacers, are in great need of a backup big to play behind Ivica Zubac. Los Angeles is extremely short on depth at the center position and has no long-term solution for that backup position. In Sorber, the Clippers will have someone who can fill that spot and who can potentially be the center of the future as Zubac gets older. As for on-court play, Sorber will fit into the defensive identity that the Clippers have and will complement the defensive wings with strong paint defense. Offensively, Sorber’s ability to score and serve as an offensive hub will help out the Clippers and their lack of depth off the bench. Overall, Sorber and his skills will be a big help for the Clippers.

Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks can use someone like Sorber and what he brings to the table. With Clint Capela declining due to age, the Hawks will need another big to fill his spot in the rotation. The Hawks can find someone like that in Sorber. He can provide what Capela provided on defense while also having a deeper bag on offense. Sorber can block shots, disrupt passes, and generally anchor a defense. He can operate in Capela’s role as a screener and roller, while also being able to generate offense for himself and others. Simply put, Sorber can serve as a more-than-adequate replacement for Capela and be a part of Atlanta’s future.
