A big honor for the skipper.

Atlanta — Earlier this week the USA Basketball team announced that Atlanta Dream head coach Tanisha Wright will be a scout for the 2024 USA Basketball Women’s National Team.

The coach’s impressive career includes numerous accolades and achievements. Coach Wright accolades include the Associated Press Coach of the Year award and a second- place finish in the WNBA Kia Coach of the Year voting in her first year back in 2022 as the Dream head coach. She also won a WNBA Championship in 2010 during her playing days with the Seattle Storm.

Her leadership style, characterized by empathy, strategic thinking, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, has been instrumental in her teams’ successes.

Coach Wright has been making waves in the professional sports arena for years, as she brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the Olympic team. She has over 14 years of experience as a player and coach in the WNBA. Her journey to this prestigious position is a testament to her dedication, expertise, and the growing acknowledgment of women’s capabilities in sports management and coaching.

Wright’ roles as the new scout will probably require her to be involved in identifying and evaluating emerging talents, providing crucial insights into athletes’ potential, and contributing to the strategic planning of the team. Her unique perspective and approach are expected to bring a new dimension to the team’s preparation and performance.

“It’s just an amazing opportunity as I think people dream of this opportunity to be connected with the US Olympic team in any capacity. So, for me I’m super honored to have the opportunity to go and represent the Dream but ultimately to represent our country and learn from the best. It’s going to be some amazing coaches their from the WNBA and college as well as the best players in the world,” said head coach Wright.

The Women’s National Team will be led by head coach Cheryl Reeve along with assistant coaches Kara Lawson, Mike Thibault and Joni Taylor. The Olympics will be held in Paris, France this year. Coach Wright will not be the only Dream representative on the team as Rhyne Howard will also be participating in the 3×3 competition.
