Atlanta Hawks center Kristaps Porzingis will miss the next two weeks to undergo further evaluation into an illness that has sidelined him regularly. Porzingis has missed seven of the Hawks last eight games due to illness.
Atlanta and Porzingis are focused on the long-term health of the player.
During the offseason, Porzingis was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). This condition causes a large increase in heartrate when an individual stands up or sits down. It can lead to fatigue, headaches, nausea, brain fog, and several other symptoms.
Porzingis missed considerable time last season due to illness while a member of the Boston Celtics. The team and Porzingis had several tests done to determine the cause of Porzingis’ illness, but it wasn’t until the offseason that he was diagnosed with POTS.
