Alex Verdugo bats second again, while Baldwin starts, batting sixth

Bad process worked and is now repeated

Alex Verdugo finds himself starting and batting second again after a successful game Friday playing the same role. Verdugo has been quite bad recently and hasn’t been an even average hitter since 2023. Him being placed in the second spot was quite strange yesterday, after Eli White had been starting over him, but he was legitimately good in Friday’s thumping victory. Elsewhere, Drake Baldwin starts at catcher and bats sixth, pushing Michael Harris down to eighth.

The Rockies have tweaked their lineup, as Sam Hilliard takes the leadoff spot, Orlando Arcia takes a seat on the bench and is replaced by Ryan Ritter, and Keston Hiura is replaced by Kyle Farmer. It really is impressive how bad this Rockies lineup is.
