Or was Saturday a rare night off?
The Braves are employing a left field platoon with Alex Verdugo and Eli White. It doesn’t matter that Eli White can’t really hit that well and Alex Verdugo can’t really do anything well, but it’s happening regardless. So we know the Braves are not opposed to using a platoon when one player can’t hold down a spot.
So are Stuart Fairchild and Michael Harris in a platoon now? The lefty Harris would be the heavy part of the platoon facing righties in that case. But is that where we are? His results this season are not great. The .212/.238/.320 line and the sudden aversion of walks is cause for concern. He can definitely play center field at an elite level. He’s slightly better against lefties (61 wRC+ versus 45 wRC+) but I don’t know that it matters that much.
Probably an overreaction but hey it’s the 2025 Braves season here.
