Bryce Elder returns to the minor leagues as a group of new series sets to start.
Tuesday is a full slate in the Atlanta Braves system, as all five teams in action are set to be playing. Although the pitchers are mostly listed as TBD’s so far, we know we will get a chance to watch Bryce Elder and Top 30 prospect Luis Arestigueta.
Gwinnett Stripers at Louisville Bats – 6:35 PM ET
Pitching Probables
LOU: Wade Miley, 0-0 9.00 ERA
GWI: Bryce Elder, 0-1 16.88 ERA
Bryce Elder is back on the hill for Gwinnett for the first time since his demotion from Atlanta. He hasn’t pitched for the Stripers since March, so his stat line is from one game – though he has pitched well over his last five big league starts. He’ll be opposed by MLB journeyman and crafty lefty Wade Miley.
With Ronald Acuna Jr. set to possibly rejoin the Braves prior to this game, the focus here goes back to another pair of Striper outfielders. That would be Jarred Kelenic and Carlos Rodriguez.
Columbus Clingstones vs Montgomery Biscuits – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
COL: TBD
MON: TBD
Columbus heads back to Montgomery as David McCabe and Ethan Workinger are the two guys to pay the most attention to on the Columbus batting order. Both of those two guys have been excellent this year, though seeing a little more power from McCabe would be welcomed.
Rome Emperors at Hub City Spartanburgers – 6:35 PM ET
Pitching Probables
ROM: TBD
HC: Leandro Lopez, 2-2 2.13 ERA
Rome gets to play another set with Hub City. The player to watch in this one for Rome has to be Titus Dumitru, who is off to a sizzling start to May. Dumitru has posted a .950 OPS this month, a full 320 points higher than the .630 mark he posted in April, and has done so over 63 plate appearances this month. Dumitru was the team’s 16th round pick last year out of New Mexico State, where he hit .337/.435/.624 last season – although in a VERY hitter friendly environment.
Augusta GreenJackets vs Charleston RiverDogs – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
AUG: Luis Arestigueta, 0-0 2.70 ERA
CHA: TBD
The GreenJackets remain the most fun club in the Braves system to watch, creating problems for their opponents at the dish as well as on the bases. There aren’t many easy outs in a lineup featuring prospects like John Gil, Owen Carey, Eric Hartman, Isaiah Drake, Nick Montgomery, and even Douglas Glod. This game is even more interesting with Luis Arestigueta pitching, a pitcher ranked #26 in our Preseason Top 30.
FCL Braves at FCL Twins – 12:00 PM ET
Pitching Probables
BRA: TBD
TWI: TBD
Jose Perdomo continued his recent run of hitting with a double on Monday, while we also got to see a Carlos Monteverde grand slam and 17-year-old Juan Mateo reach base twice. Those three will continue to be the three guys to watch close in the FCL boxscores for the remainder of the pre-draft period.
