Patrick Clohisy was one of the lone bright spots in a rough night for the organization
(19-13) Nashville Sounds 3, (12-2) Gwinnett Stripers 1
- Jarred Kelenic, CF: 1-for-2, 2 BB, .278/.435/.278
- James McCann, C: 1-for-2, RBI, BB, .280/.339/.400
- Zach Thompson, SP: 3IP 2H 1ER 4BB 1K, 4.91 ERA
- Craig Kimbrel, RP: 1.1IP 0H 1R 0ER 2BB 1K, 3.38 ERA
It was a rough loss for the Stripers on Star Wars Night as the game was called due to rain without the Stripers getting a chance in the bottom of the ninth. Zach Thompson, re-signed by the Braves, was OK as he navigated through three innings of work but walking four. He game out of the game in the fourth with the game tied 1-1. Enoli Paredes would come in and add two great innings as he struck out four and the game entered the sixth inning still tied 1-1. Wander Suero would eventually give up a run in the top sixth and Craig Kimbrel would give up an unearned run in the 9th (throwing error by James McCann) and the Stripers offense would be down two runs going into the bottom of the ninth but as stated above the game would be called.
There’s not much to talk offensively as the Stripers offense would strand 10 on base and going 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
(14-12) Biloxi Shuckers 8, (9-16) Columbus Clingstones 5
- David McCabe, 3B: 0-for-3, 2 BB, R, .290/.444/.406
- Adam Żebrowski, C: 2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI, R, .162/.269/.206
- Kevin Kilpatrick Jr., RF: 2-for-5, 3B, R, RBI, 2 SB, .203/.288/.254
- Landon Harper, SP: 4IP 3H 1ER 2K, 2.14 ERA
- Luis Vargas, RP: 2IP 1H 0R 1BB 3K, 6.23 ERA
Very disappointing loss for the Clingstones who were winning 5-1 entering the 8th inning. Adam Zebrowski got the game going with a first inning three run homer. They would tack on another run in the second inning from a Cody Milligan fielders choice making it 4-0. They would be humming right along as Landon Harper pitched four one-run innings and Luis Vargas would come in the fifth and work two spotless innings striking out three.
The Shuckers had just four hits through the games first seven innings and then disaster struck. Shay Schanaman would give up three straight innings and then a bases loaded walk making it 5-2. Rolddy Muñoz would come into the game and walk in a run himself, and a single before retiring the first hitter of the inning – a line out that tied the game 5-5. The next hitter would then clear the bases with a one out, three-run homers giving the visitors an 8-5 lead.
The Clingstones would get a pair of runners on and bring the game tying run to the plate in the bottom of the 8th but David McCabe would end the threat with a strikeout and ending the potential momentum. Rolddy would flirt with disaster again but would strand runners on second and third to maintain the deficit at three.
(15-10) Hub City Spartanburgers 5, (13-12) Rome Emperors 1
- Patrick Clohisy, CF: 3-for-3, BB, R, 2 SB, .253/.388/.349
- EJ Exposito, DH: 1-for-4, .333/.463/.667
- Ambioris Tavarez, 2B: 1-for-3, BB, .265/.384/.337
- Herick Hernandez, SP: 4.1IP 4H 4ER 3BB 6K, 5.89 ERA
- Riley Frey, RP: 4.1IP 1H 0R 1BB 4K, 3.38 ERA
This game was a continuation of last night that was delayed due to rain and it was a tale of two pitchers. In the first half of the game, Herick Hernandez and his struggles to start the season continued as the pitcher walked three and gave up four hits across 4.1 innings of work. His ERA now stands at 5.89 and after an unreal start to his professional career last year (2 starts – 2.70 ERA, .167 BAA), the same can not be said for this season as he’s allowed opponents to hit .254 on the season now which has resulted in a WHIP of 1.53. Riley Frey, however, continued his very strong 2025 season with 4.1 more innings of run-less baseball and has now held teams hitless over his last three appearances (13.1 innings).
Unfortunately for Riley the offense couldn’t get on track across two days and were held to just one run. If it wasn’t for Patrick Clohisy this game would have been even more lopsided as the centerfielder went 3-for-3 with a walk, and two stolen bases. Despite all of that work, the only run scored came back in the bottom of the first inning, yesterday, via an E.J. Exposito double that scored, who else, Patrick Clohisy.
(15-10) Hub City Spartanburgers @ (13-12) Rome Emperors – Game 2 POSTPONED
(13-13) Augusta GreenJackets 2, (16-10) Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 11
- John Gil, SS: 0-3, BB, RBI, .209/.311/.253
- Eric Hartman, LF: 0-for-4, .213/.333/.360
- Isaiah Drake, CF: 1-for-4, R, .253/.348/.329
- Douglas Glod, RF: 3-for-4, .174/.409/.283
- Jacob Gomez, SP: 3IP 1H 1R 0ER 4BB 5K, 2.08 ERA
Throw this game in the trash can. There was a lengthly rain delay that caused first pitch to be moved back hours, and resulted in Rayven Antonio being scrapped as started and Jacob Gomez taking the spot start. Jacob did well in the role, giving up just one unearned run across three innings of work but he did walk four. The bullpen game was successful for the first six innings as the GreenJackets trailed 3-1 through 6 innings.
The GreenJackets scraped across a run in the top of the seventh thanks to a bases loaded walk by John Gil and made it 3-2. With the bases still loaded and 0 outs but then Colby Jones and Eric Hartman both struck out while Nick Montgomery popped up to end the threat and let the Cannon Ballers off. The Cannon Ballers then got that run back in the bottom half of the inning and then broke out for seven runs in the 8th against GreenJackets pitchers Albert Rivas and Jake Steels – handing the win to the Cannon Ballers and leaving the GreenJackets wondering what exactly just happened.
(1-0) FCL Rays 11, (0-2) FCL Braves 2
- Jose Perdomo, SS: 1-for-3, R, 2 BB, .333/.600/.333
- Mario Baez, 2B: 2-for-4, RBI, .500/.500/.500
- Juan Mateo, 3B: 2-for-4, .500/.500/.500
- Justin Militello, SP: 5IP 2H 1ER 2BB 4K, 1.80 ERA
Complex ball got started today and the eagerly awaited 2025 debut for a few of the Braves top prospects, in turn, began and for the most part it was a solid success. Jose Perdomo went 1-for-3 and picked up a pair of walks, while the dynamic Mario Baez went 2-for-4. There is an off-day tomorrow, but then the season ramps up starting Monday of next week.
