The Braves have a weakened lineup, due to injuries amidst a wild team-wide slump
The Braves are going with a pretty rough lineup by their standards, as Chadwick Tromp is forced into action again with d’Arnaud getting a few days and Zack Short subbing in for Austin Riley dealing with side tightness. Check out our latest injury updates on those two Braves’ lineup staples here. Facing the right-handed Yu Darvish, Jarred Kelenic gets the not in left field, batting eighth with Tromp taking up the ninth spot. The Braves could really use some run support with Elder on the mound, which is not hugely confidence-inspiring. The Braves continue to be in a huge slump that is also substantially a result of horrid luck, as our friend Brad Rowland points out.

On the Padres’ side, they have Arraez leading off with Tatis following him, Machado batting fifth and Bogaerts sixth. The Padres’ offense has had their own set of struggles this season, with Machado and Bogaerts in particular struggling mightily at the plate.

This game looks like roughly a coin flip on paper, with a pitching advantage for San Diego and underperforming offensive stars on both sides.
The game is on ESPN for their signature Sunday Night Baseball at 7:10 PM ET at Truist Park.
