Atlanta adds the veteran pitcher for this morning’s game.
This morning, the Atlanta Braves announced that they have added veteran right-handed pitcher Jesse Chavez to the 26-man roster and optioned lefty Dylan Dodd to Triple-A. To open a spot on the team’s 40-man roster, injured starting pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach was moved to the 60-day IL.
The #Braves today selected RHP Jesse Chavez to the major league roster after optioning LHP Dylan Dodd to Triple-A Gwinnett following yesterday’s game. To make room on the 40-man roster, Atlanta transferred RHP Spencer Schwellenbach to the 60-day injured list.

This is the third time that Chavez has been on the team’s active roster this season. The soon-to-be 42-year-old has pitched three inning across two games for the Braves this season. He’s pitched well with Gwinnett tossing 30.2 innings in 23 appearances and striking out 36.
Dodd was an obvious candidate to be removed from the team’s active roster after throwing 39 pitches in yesterday’s bullpen game against the Baltimore Orioles and having options remaining.
Schwellendbach being moved to the 60-day IL isn’t surprising after he suffered a fractured elbow and was placed on the 15-day IL after his last start.
The Braves take on the Orioles at 11:35AM this morning in a rare game starting before Noon.
