Atlanta travels west to face San Francisco in a three-game set.
In the now-distant past, the Atlanta Braves made their divisional home in the National League West. As nonsensical that was geographically, it meant that several generations of Atlanta fans spent countless summer nights staying up late to watch the Braves battle the San Francisco Giants.
These days, a trip to the San Francisco Bay is a once-a-year affair now that the Athletics no longer call Oakland home. That trip is this weekend, so get ready for a late night Friday night.
Unfortunately, 2025 Braves are playing a lot like the 1988 Braves and are coming off of a series sweep against the Arizona Diamondbacks that included one of the worst regular-season losses in Atlanta Braves history.
Teams from the National League West have tormented the Braves this season. Having struggled mightily against the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres (a collective 2-11) and even dropping a game to the Colorado Rockies in addition – Atlanta will now be facing another foe from the West; one doesn’t illicit much optimism for a positive outcome for the Braves.
The Giants are trailing the Dodgers and currently sitting behind the Padres for the second in the NL West and for one of the NL Wild Card spots. The Wild Card positioning is important because if the Braves hope to climb back into the Wild Card race, they will need to jump a number of teams, including the Giants.
Good news for Braves fans is that, despite heading to the Pacific Time Zone, there’s only one late-night game with both Saturday and Sunday being mid-day jaunts.
Here are the start times for each of this weekend’s games against the Giants.
- Friday, June 6 – 10:15PM EDT
- Saturday, June 7 – 4:05PM EDT
- Sunday, June 8 – 4:05PM EDT
