Herget appeared in one game for the Mets this season. He has pitched for the Tampa Bay Rays, Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers since debuting for the Rays in 2021. For his MLB-career, he has appeared in 25 games, tossing 44.2 innings – all in relief.
During his big league career, he has struck out less than 20-percent of the batters that he has faced. The 34-year-old appeared in 13 games at Triple-A this season.
The Braves has an opening on their 40-man roster so no additional move was necessary. Although he has uninspiring results, he does have an option remaining, giving Atlanta some roster flexibility later in the season – if needed.
He is not related to pitcher Jimmy Herget who pitched in eight games for the Braves last year.
