
Atlanta continues to cycle in relievers.
The Atlanta Braves have claimed right-handed reliever José Ruiz of waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies as the team continues to churn the back-end of their bullpen.

Ruiz, 30, had pitched in 16 games with the Phillies this season with a 4.16 xFIP that makes his horrific 8.16 ERA seem not-as-bad-as-it-is. He debuted in 2017 with the San Diego Padres but spent most of his big league career with the Chicago White Sox.
He has been a league-average reliever for most of his career with only one save in 280 career games. In 2025, he’s sporting a 17-percent strikeout rate that is below league average.
He is another person the Braves will have at their disposal as they spiral toward the abyss.
