Greene wasn’t effective for the Braves in 2021.

The Atlanta Braves announced a roster move for the bullpen Tuesday recalling A.J. Minter from Gwinnett while designating Shane Greene for assignment. Minter seemed to reclaim his form after his demotion while the 2021 season hasn’t gone well for Greene at all.

The #Braves today recalled LHP A.J. Minter to Atlanta and designated RHP Shane Greene for assignment. Additionally, OF Eddie Rosario is set to begin a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett tonight.

The Braves optioned Minter to Gwinnett back on July 18 as he struggled through a stretch that saw him allow 25 hits and 13 runs over 17 1/3 innings. Opponents hit .342 against him during that stretch. He made seven appearances for the stripers and allowed no hits and no runs over 7 1/3 innings while walking three and striking out 10.

The Braves signed Greene on May 9 and he made his season debut on June 8, but his season hasn’t gone well. Greene made 19 appearances where he posted an 8.47 ERA while allowing 22 hits and 16 runs in just 17 innings. He recorded 17 strikeouts but also walked nine and allowed five home runs.

The Braves also announced that injured outfielder Eddie Rosario will begin a rehab assignment at Gwinnett. Atlanta acquired Rosario from Cleveland at the trade deadline in exchange for Pablo Sandoval.
