So long, farewell, yet again, Eddie Rosario
Well, Eddie Rosario had his time in the proverbial sun with the Braves over the last few days, getting a bizarre end-of-game pinch-hitting appearance on Wednesday, and then scoring a key run as a pinch-runner on Thursday night. Now, it’s time to bid him farewell, adieu, so long, once again:
The #Braves today selected INF Luke Williams to the major league roster and designated OF Eddie Rosario for assignment.

This was either his third or fourth stint with Atlanta depending on how you count him re-signing after the 2021 season; he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in this most recent go-around.
The addition of Luke Williams does little other than re-up his roster barnacle status. Williams has -0.4 fWAR and a 59 wRC+ in 315 career PAs, and that comes with him outhitting his xwOBA, which is more than a little dire. He’s played every position but catcher in a major league game, but hasn’t really excelled defensively, either. He had a 2 wRC+ (lol) in 83 PAs at Gwinnett before the call-up and basically just gives the Braves another pinch-runner/defensive replacement option, but should never grab a bat if things are going even remotely well. Or maybe he’s the team’s new designated bunter, who knows.
