Can we fast forward the rest of the season?
It started with an inside-the-park home run to the first batter of the game and got progressively worse from there as the Braves found yet another low in a blowout loss to the Athletics. They have lost five in a row. The record is 39-51.
Didier Fuentes, pitching once again for reasons unbeknownst to anyone with a brain, gave up the little league home run to Lawrence Butler and then real homers to Brent Rooker and Max Muncy to make it 5-0 within a matter of minutes.
Fuentes started the second inning and loaded the bases, giving way to Jesse Chavez, who gave up a grand slam to Nick Kurtz to make it 9-0. Butler homered again in the 3rd inning — this time a real one over the fence — to make it a 10-piece for Sacramento.
Good lord. Did I mention Ronald Acuña Jr. was scratched with lower back tightness?
What an embarrassment for the Braves. What is Alex Anthopoulos doing, sending 20-year-old Fuentes to the wolves every fifth day? It’s a lost season; stop jerking his career around.
This organization is lost. I don’t know what the exact issue is, but something has felt off for months now. From stupid, unnecessary, PR decisions like the Craig Kimbrel debacle to the abhorrent roster management, it feels like someone needs to take control of the situation. How bad to things need to be before something changes?
If anything of note happens we’ll add it here.
