Shocker! Game two is dropped by the Braves to tie the series
Let’s make this short and to the point, like the shutout the Atlanta Braves experienced from the San Francisco Giants tonight.
The frustration of this Braves loss doesn’t need to be explained any further, as they have now snapped the Giants’ six-game losing streak.
After showing a consistent spark in offense during the last series and yesterday’s game, the Braves failed to bring it to tonight’s competition to snag an early series win.
Let’s put this into perspective. The Braves visited the Giants in Oracle Park back in June, where they were swept in a three-game series, receiving their seventh straight loss.
With all losses falling by a single run…what does this mean for this team matchup?
The Giants started strong at the top of the second after a home run call overturn became a triple from Matt Chapman to bring in Willy Adames for the first run.
After that… well, you see the score (9-0).
The Braves remained scoreless throughout the game, with promising-looking hits specifically from Michael Harris II and Matt Olson, only to result in nothing in the end.
Disappointing at-bats from the team overall, and a below-average mound appearance from Davis Daniel (5 IP/ 7 H/ 5 ER/ 4BB/ 3 K) just didn’t show any signs of a winning night during any part of the game.
The good news out of all this is that utility player Luke Williams pitched a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout against Rafael Devers, Willy Adames and Matt Chapman.
That was a pretty impressive watch, and a hopeful outlook for what he’ll bring to the team.
Tomorrow, Spencer Strider (3.59 ERA) is taking the mound to face Justin Verlander (4.99 ERA), a duo who haven’t faced off since 2023.
Maybe that matchup can be the highlight of this series to make fans forgive what happened tonight.
