Atlanta hopes for fireworks will the season fizzles.
The Atlanta Braves’ 2025 season continues to fizzle with the team’s starting rotation is in shambles and the bats continue to slumber.
Coming off dropping two-out-of-three to the Los Angeles Angels the Braves will welcome the Baltimore Orioles for the holiday weekend starting with Friday night’s July 4th clash.
If the Braves are the most disappointing team in the National League then the Orioles are the same in the American League. Baltimore actually comes into Atlanta with a worse record than the Braves this year after winning 91 games in 2024. It was so bad for Baltimore that they change managers and have played better since the change – going 22-21 under manager Tony Mansolino.
Baltimore’s line-up is solid despite its under-performance but the team’s rotation has been a struggle. Former Brave Charlie Morton – who performed so badly he was banished to the bullpen earlier in the season – has turned things around after returning to the rotation. Outfielder Ramón Laureano, who spent part of last season with Atlanta, has been one of the O’s better hitters behind shortstop Gunner Henderson.
Atlanta is now 39-47 and 11.5 games out of first place in NL East and is the fourth worst team in the National League. Yikes.
