Davis Daniel is set to take the mound and help the Braves secure an early series win against the Giants.
Series opener win, complete.
What’s next this time?
After a winning start in the Yankees series and promising leads to follow, the Atlanta Braves just couldn’t pull it together for a series win despite their offensive production spike.
Maybe this series will be different.
Let’s look at these pitching matchups to pre-determine that.
Davis Daniel is our starting pitcher for tonight, leading the Bullpen into what they hope will be a better performance than the last series, especially since there wasn’t a need to exhaust them in Monday’s game.
Daniel has had only two starts with the team this year (1.80 ERA and 1.00 WHIP), with only one of them as a starter last week against the St. Louis Cardinals (4 IP/ 2 H/ 1 ER/ 3 BB/ 5 K).
If you’re not familiar with Daniel before him being called up after Austin Cox’s optioning to Triple-A, you wouldn’t know how well Daniel played for the Los Angeles Angels last year, during his first career start (8 IP/ 4 H/ 0 ER/ 0 BB/ 8 K).
Also showing promise in Gwinnett during his tenure this season, it is shown that once Daniel gets his footing, he isn’t scared to pitch deep into games.
Davis Daniel in his two starts with @GoStripers this week:
7/1- 6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO
7/6- 6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 SOLed the International League with 12.0 IP this week and tied for first with his 12 strikeouts.

Showcasing mostly his 90.7 mph (on average) four-seamer, along with his splitter (85.2 mph) as his top two in his four-pitch arsenal, it’s still a little early to determine his full stature on the team completely; however, the potential is definitely prevalent, and will be needed to lead the bullpen and team to another victory against the San Francisco Giants.
Speaking of which, they’re also putting together a bullpen game.
Landen Roupp, a young pitcher who’s become one of the Giants’ most reliable arms this year with their pitching inconsistencies, has shown immense effort to step up and be an asset on the mound.
Currently boasting a 3.27 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 96.1 innings, it’s safe to warn not to sleep on the 26-year-old, as he’s known to surprise opposing teams with his quality performances he puts together when it’s needed the most.
What specifically do the Braves need to look out for?
His filthy curveball, which reaches the high 70s and is a key component behind his sinker in his arsenal.

So, what does this mean overall for what is expected tonight… frankly, it’s unknown.
Both pitchers are adjusting to the big league stage—one more than the other. And have to show stable leadership and command in this matchup to determine the fate of this series.
Moreso for the Braves, this could secure a win and keep them in the right direction with the offense and pitching on the same page, and for the Giants as they look to tie the series here.
First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. EDT.
