Braves lose again, this time to the Rangers

Wash, rinse, repeat.

The Atlanta Braves stunk it up again on Friday night against the Texas Rangers to fall to 44-58 on the season.

Only 60 games to go.

Joey Wentz made the start and worked 4 1⁄3 innings while surrendering four runs (three earned) with six strikeouts and a walk. Wentz looked pretty sharp for the most part, but he clearly has some limitations working through a lineup multiple times. He figures to make another start in five days when it’s his turn in the rotation.

The Rangers didn’t string together any big rallies until the eighth inning but continually put runs on the scoreboard in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings. The wheels fell off in the eighth by way of an erratic Rafael Montero.

Michael Harris, who has had a nice week with a handful of hard-hit baseballs (sometimes with nothing to show for it), smoked a solo homer in the 7th to put the Braves on the board.

The series continues Saturday with Grant Holmes set to start against Kumar Rocker, who owns a 5.66 ERA across 12 starts this season. First pitch is an hour earlier at 7:05 p.m. ET from Globe Life Field.
