Max Fried won’t go to arbitration in his final season before free agency after he and the club settled on a $15 million deal.

Max Fried will avoid arbitration in his final year before free agency. Fried and the Atlanta Braves have agreed to a one-year deal worth $15 million according to a report by Robert Murray. Fried beats the projected $14.4 million salary by MLB Trade Rumors with the deal.

Fried has gone to trial the last two offseasons winning in 2022 before losing in 2023. He pitched well again last season, but suffered through three trips to the injured list that limited him to just 14 starts. He still posted a 2.55 ERA, a 3.14 FIP and was worth 1.9 fWAR in 77 2⁄3 innings. The Braves will be looking for Fried to front their rotation along with Spencer Strider again in 2024.

This is Fried’s final year of arbitration eligibility and is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the 2024 season.

Update – The Braves have officially announced Fried’s one-year deal

The #Braves today signed LHP Max Fried ($15 million) and LHP A.J. Minter ($6.22 million) to one-year contracts for the 2024 season.
