Brett Sears looks to continue tearing up the competition.
Tuesday means it’s time for a new set of opponents for the affiliates in the Atlanta Braves system. It also means we get another chance to see Brett Sears shut down Low-A hitters – though if he keeps pitching this well, he won’t be long for Augusta.
Schedule
Gwinnett Stripers vs Nashville Sounds 7:05 PM ET
Probable Starters
GWN: Jose Suarez (N/A)
NAS: TBD
Gwinnett starts a homestand with the Brewers Triple-A affiliate, with Jose Suarez on the mound. Suarez, the return from the Angels in the Ian Anderson deal, is set to make his first minor league appearance after being sent down from Atlanta. The Sounds do have a pair of the Brewers top hitting prospects, but both Jeferson Quero and Tyler Black are on the injured list, leaving pitchers Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson as the top prospects to see action this week.
The Bryan De La Cruz/Carlos Rodriguez outfield gets another piece with the demotion of Jarred Kelenic on Monday to make room for Eddie Rosario. That is the most interesting outfield the Stripers have had since the days when Cristian Pache and Drew Waters were still Braves prospects.
Columbus Clingstones vs Biloxi Shuckers 7:05 PM ET
Probable Starters
COL: TBD
BIL: TBD
Just like Gwinnett, Columbus gets a Brewers affiliate this week. Cooper Pratt, the #3 prospect in their system according to Pipeline, along with Brock Wilken, Luke Adams, and Luis Lara are some of the bats to watch with KC Hunt as the top pitching prospect.
David McCabe keeps raking for Columbus, hitting .278/.444/.426 with more walks (17) than strikeouts (12). McCabe has bounced back from his rough 2024 season, and is proving that he can hit the pitching of the upper levels of the minors. The only issue at all for McCabe is that the Braves would like to see a little more of his power show up in games, as he has just one homer in his first 72 plate appearances.
Rome Emperors vs Hub City Spartanburgers 6:00 PM ET
Probable Starters
ROM: TBD
HC: Leandro Lopez (1-1, 3.38 ERA)
Rome gets the Rangers High-A club. With last year’s first rounder Malcolm Moore injured, Dylan Dreiling and Anthony Gutierrez are the bats to watch. Paul Bonzagni, Izack Tiger, Kolton Curtis, and David Davalillo are the pitchers ranked in the Rangers Top 30 on Pipeline.
Ambioris Tavarez remains the Rome player to watch as the top hitting prospect on this roster. Tavarez is up over 100 points with his on base percentage, sitting at .405 after posting a .298 mark a year ago with a walk ratio of 15.5% after just a 10.6% last year.
Augusta GreenJackets at Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 6:00 PM ET

Probable Starters
AUG: Brett Sears (2-1, 1.98 ERA)
KAN: TBD
The White Sox Low-A affiliate is the next Augusta opponent. That means Braden Montgomery, the Red Sox first rounder last year and a centerpiece of the Garrett Crochet deal, leads a lineup also featuring George Wolkow, Caleb Bonemer, and Javier Mongollon. On the pitching side there isn’t any of the Sox Top 30 here.
Brett Sears starts this one for the GreenJackets, and the seventh round pick out of Nebraska has been excellent so far this year. Sears is pitching to a 1.98 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts in 13.2 innings, and makes his second start of the season. Obviously it goes without saying that the Augusta lineup that is packed with prospect bats must be watched closely.
