Braves Minor League Preview – 6/26

June 26, 2025 by Talking Chop

MLB: Chicago Cubs at Atlanta Braves

Jackson Stephens returns to the mound after a brilliant spot start – striking out 9 over 4 innings in his last start.

(29-48) Gwinnett Stripers @ (32-43) Norfolk Tide – 12:05 PM ET

Pitching Probables

GWI: Jackson Stephens (2-0, 3.91 ERA)

NOR: Brandon Young (2-1, 2.63 ERA)

The Stripers dropped game 2 to the Tide by a final score of 5-2. The bullpen stepped up, firing 3.2 scoreless innings after Davis Daniel gave up 5 earned in 4.1 innings of work. Jurickson Profar went 0-for-4, Nacho Alvarez Jr. went 0-for-4, Luke Waddell went 0-for-4, and Carlos Rodríguez went 1-for-4 (combined 1-for-16 from your best bats). The good news, however, is that Jarred Kelenic had a nice rebound day at the plate going 3-for-4. Today the Stripers bring out Jackson Stephens, who has moved to the rotation after Didier Fuentes was promoted to Atlanta, who was strong in his last start (4IP 0H 0R 1BB 9K).

(43-28) Biloxi Shuckers @ (27-41) Columbus Clingstones – 7:05 PM ET

Pitching Probables

BIL: Alexander Cornielle (3-2, 2.89 ERA)

COL: TBD

The Clingstones dropped last night’s game 5-3 in the 10th inning after a relatively strong start from Lucas Braun (5.2IP 3H 3ER 1BB 8K). Drew Compton and Ethan Workinger got it done yesterday going a combined 4-for-8, with Ethan Workinger having contributed a 2R HR. The 4-9 hitters (McCabe, Quintero, Conley, Bunnell, Seagle, Kato) went a combined 0-for-23 in the loss so look for them to hopefully right the ship in today’s matchup against a strong Alexander Cornielle.

(35-36) Greenville Drive @ (31-39) Rome Emperors – 7:00 PM ET

Pitching Probables:

GRN: Brandon Clarke (0-1, 2.51 ERA)

ROM: Riley Frey (0-3, 5.00 ERA)

Rome lost big yesterday after the Drive had a 5 run 9th inning to seal the win despite the fantastic start from Jacob Kroeger (6IP 1H 1ER 3BB 5K). Today, the Emperors respond with Riley Frey taking the mound. The bats have to get it going, but they face a tough Brandon Clarke who has a 2.51 ERA on the season. The Emperors failed to have an XBH so look for the likes of Patrick Clohisy (.677 OPS), Titus Dumitru (.651 OPS), Mason Guerra (.715 OPS), Ambioris Tavarez (.642 OPS) to hopefully get it going and get Rome back on the winning side.

(35-34) Augusta GreenJackets @ (38-33) Fayetteville Woodpeckers – 6:35 PM ET

Pitching Probables

AUG: Owen Hackman (1-3, 4.53 ERA)

FYT: TBD

The GreenJackets were throttled 10-1 last night in their loss to the Woodpeckers. Every pitcher that came in gave up at least an earned run so look for Owen Hackman to try and settle things down and hopefully get some innings after yesterday’s starter lasted only 3. The GreenJackets were completely shut down, collecting just two hits against the Woodpeckers last night with John Gil and Colby Jones collecting the two hits. So, hopefully, the likes of Isaiah Drake, Owen Carey, and Douglas Glod can get it going and return the GreenJackets into the win column.

(13-24) FCL Braves @ (24-12) FCL Twins – 12:00 PM ET

Pitching Probables

BRA: TBD

TWN: TBD

The FCL Braves had the day off yesterday but feature quite a few notable prospects who hopefully will get it going. Eric Hartman (rehab), Jose Perdomo, Juan Mateo, Tyler Tolve (rehabbing), and Junior Garcia are just a few of the names to keep track of on this team.

(8-9) DSL Royals Fortuna @ (9-7) DSL Braves – 11:00 AM ET

Pitching Probables

ROY: TBD

BRA: TBD

The DSL Braves continued their winning ways on Tuesday and moved to two games over .500. Like the FCL team, the DSL Braves have a trio of impressive international prospects to keep an eye on including Diego Tornes (.947 OPS), Michael Martinez (.837 OPS), and Juan Espinal (.847 OPS)
