A great Triple-A matchup on the docket as Hurston Waldrep and the Stripers play Bubba Chandler and the Indianapolis Indians
(36-53) Gwinnett Stripers @ (52-36) Indianapolis Indians – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
GWI: Hurston Waldrep (6-7, 5.25 ERA)
IND: Bubba Chandler (3-2, 3.07 ERA)
After losing a heartbreaker yesterday, the Stripers turn to Hurston Waldrep for the start. They will likely need some length out of him after yesterday where they used five relievers. In his last start Hurston struggled a bit with the walks, as he allowed, four, but also only gave up four hits over five innings. While the results haven’t been out of this world, the new mechanics have been very beneficial for Waldrep as he’s seen a lot more success recently. Unfortunately for the Stripers, not only are they on their second bullpen game in a row, they are up against top 100 prospect Bubba Chandler. For the Stripers to compete, they will need their top three (Kelenic, Waddell, Rodríguez) to do better than yesterday where they went a combined 0-for-9 with three walks.
(42-40) Pensacola Blue Wahoos @ (35-46) Columbus Clingstones – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
PNS: Alex Williams (3-0, 2.48 ERA)
COL: TBD
The Clingstones look to rebound after yesterday’s disastrous defeat where they gave up 11 runs over the final three innings of the game, including eight in the ninth inning alone. With the expectation that there are pending moves happening within the organization, and with Drue Hackenberg still rehabbing, they have yet to announce a starter for today’s game. They wasted one of their best offensive outbursts yesterday as everyone but Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. reached based at least once. Drew Compton, David McCabe, and Ethan Workinger have the teams most offensive upside while wildcard Geraldo Quintero hits leadoff.
(41-41) Hub City Spartanburgers @ (36-45) Rome Emperors – 7:00 PM ET
Pitching Probables
HCS: TBD
ROM: Jacob Kroeger (0-2, 2.11 ERA)
The Emperors lost a tough one last night 2-1, and turn to Jacob Kroeger to put them back in the win column. Jacob was solid in his last start (5.2IP 4H 1ER 3BB 1K), and overall has had a very strong season – with a 1.97 total ERA and 0.99 WHIP. The Emperors offense has struggled of late, including just one run last night, so Jacob will need to be on top of his game. Look for Patrick Clohisy, Will Verdung, Justin Janas, Ambioris Tavarez, and Mason Guerra to get things going for the Emperors offense.
(32-48) Salem Red Sox @ (41-39) Augusta GreenJackets – 5:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
SAL: Yhokier Fajardo (0-3, 9.58 ERA)
AUG: Owen Hackman (2-4, 4.36 ERA)
The GreenJackets turn to Owen Hackman in game 1 of the today’s double header. Owen is coming off one of his best starts as a pro (5.1IP 1H 0R 1BB 3K) and will be looking to continue his good form. As they were rained out yesterday there are no stats from the game, however the same remains true, keep an eye out on Gil, Carey, Hartman, Montgomery, Drake, and Colby Jones to lead the surge.
(32-48) Salem Red Sox @ (41-39) Augusta GreenJackets – Game 2
Pitching Probables
SAL: TBD
AUG: TBD
(26-18) FCL Orioles @ (15-30) FCL Braves – 10:00 AM ET
Pitching Probables
ORL: Esteban Mejia (1-1, 2.51 ERA)
BRA: J.J. Niekro (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
The rehabbing J.J. Niekro will be taking the mound for the FCL Braves. For those following the FCL games, make sure to keep an eye on Juan Mateo, Dos Passos, Perdomo, Martinez, Garcia, and Mario Baez who can hopefully turn things around in the second half of the season.
(26-18) FCL Orioles @ (15-30) FCL Braves – Game 2
Pitching Probables
ORL: TBD
BRA: TBD
(11-15) DSL Braves @ (13-14) DSL Astros Orange @ 11:00 AM ET
Pitching Probables
BRA: TBD
AST: TBD
Following Tuesday defeat, the Braves are out for revenge and look to take it out on the Astros Orange team. Diego Tornes, and Juan Espinal are the two biggest names on the DSL team to monitor.
