Luke Waddell has quietly had a very good season for the Stripers, hitting .298/.408/.356
(40-58) Gwinnett Stripers @ (50-46) Memphis Redbirds – 8:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
GWI: Austin Cox (2-1, 3.64 ERA)
MEM: Curtis Taylor (4-3, 3.43 ERA)
Austin Cox picks up the spot start for the Gwinnett Stripers following their 6-0 thumping by the Memphis Redbirds yesterday. Brett Sears gave up five homers in the loss, but the team combined for just four hits themselves. Luke Waddell, Jarred Kelenic, and Carlos Rodríguez in particular have to provide contributions for the team to succeed. José Devers being healthy has been great for the Stripers, as he’s helped lead the charge – going 2-for-3 yesterday.
(49-39) Chattanooga Lookouts @ (37-52) Columbus Clingstones – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
CHT: TBD
COL: Landon Harper (2-4, 2.84 ERA)
The Clingstones dropped a heartbreaker last night, losing 1-0 in a brilliantly pitched game. They turn to Landon Harper to bring that momentum into today, something he’s done extremely well all season. Whether it be in relief, or as a starter, Landon has been the consummate professional – filling in whatever the role the Clingstones have needed, and thriving in that role. To win, he needs a better offensive game from the Clingstones as they were shutout and combined for just three hits yesterday. Look for the top 4 of Quintero, McCabe, Workinger, and Compton to get things going.
(39-50) Rome Emperors @ (53-36) Hudson Valley Renegades – 6:35 PM ET
Pitching Probables
ROM: Herick Hernandez (1-5, 4.46 ERA)
HUD: TBD
Rome looks to build off of yesterday’s superb pitching by Garrett Baumann, and turn to Herick Hernandez to get them back-to-back wins. While the season hasn’t gone exactly the way Herick envisioned it – his last five outings have been real bright spots for him. Offensively it was the Justin Janas show, yet again, as the RF went 3-for-4 yesterday, while Pineda and Espinoza both added solo homers themselves. They are facing a talented Renegades team so the team will need continued production from the three of them, with hopefully added contributions from Patrick Clohisy, and Will Verdung.
(46-44) Augusta GreenJackets @ (50-41) Hickory Crawdads – 7:00 PM ET
Pitching Probables
AUG: Jeremy Reyes (1-5, 3.21 ERA)
HCK: Brooks Fowler (1-0, 3.13 ERA)
The suddenly surging Augusta GreenJackets turn the ball over to Jeremy Reyes who is looking to get back into the win column despite some solid pitching over the last few weeks. Coming back from a shoulder injury is never fun, but the GreenJackets have done a really great job of slowly easing Jeremy back into things over the past few months with him now being able to sit in the upper-90s. He takes the mound on the heels of a great pitched game by Cam Caminiti and David Rodriguez who held the Crawdads to just three hits yesterday. Offensively, the team got it done as they collected a combined 12 hits and six rus. Eric Hartman, Owen Carey, Luis Guanipa, Juan Mateo, and Colby Jones lead the way for the GreenJackets offense, but Douglas Glod has really turned it around this season – with a much more refined approach and significantly higher exit velocities. While the results in the box score haven’t been great, it is promising to see things begin to click for the bigger bonus International player.
(20-37) FCL Braves @ (27-31) FCL Pirates – 11:00 AM ET
Pitching Probables
BRA: Kendy Richard (3-2, 2.04 ERA)
PIR: Irwin Ramirez (1-4, 4.70 ERA)
We head into the final game of the FCL season and Kendy Richard takes to the mound for the Braves. He came into this game with a 2.04 ERA and has done well with his four pitch mix. Jose Perdomo, John Gil, Michael Martinez, Junior Garcia, and Luis Parababire are the players to watch as they hopefully end their season on good notes, though we are likely to see some player movement following the game.
