With the big league team struggling with arms, don’t be surprised if today’s Stripers pitcher finds himself in Atlanta at some point
(36-52) Gwinnett Stripers @ (51-36) Indianapolis Indians
Pitching Probables
GWI: Nathan Wiles (4-7, 3.33 ERA)
IND: Sean Sullivan (0-2, 4.61 ERA)
The Stripers are looking to get back in the win column after suffering a thumping last night. They turn to Nathan Wiles who is coming off of five inning, four run appearance back on the third. With James McCann now out of the organization, the lineup is rough with most of the talent coming from hitters 1-3 (Kelenic, Waddell, Rodríguez) who went a combined 2-for-11 last night in the loss.
(41-40) Pensacola Blue Wahoos @ (34-45) Columbus Clingstones
Pitching Probables
PNS: Jacob Miller (2-4, 3.75 ERA)
COL: TBD
The surging Clingstones picked up another win last night thanks to some surprisingly good offense against a solid Blue Wahoos team. David McCabe leads the charge on the Clingstones offense as their most talented hitter and he went 3-for-4, with a pair of doubles yesterday. Drew Compton, now firmly sitting at the 2 spot in the lineup collected a hit and walk as well, with the other significant bat being Ethan Workinger who also went 1-for-3 with an RBI. The wildcard, E.J. Exposito, who has looked good at bat but has struggled with results hit a grand slam. The Clingstones have won 6 of their last 7 games.
(40-41) Hub City Spartanburgers @ (36-44) Rome Emperors
Pitching Probables
HCP: Josh Trentadue (1-2, 1.20 ERA)
ROM: Herick Hernandez (1-4, 4.50 ERA)
The Emperors turn to Herick Hernandez to keep the ship going after Cedric De Grandpre shut down the Spartanburgers in a solid Rome 4-0 win last night. Herick is coming off of a solid start last time out where he pitched 4.2 scoreless innings – the biggest issue, however, being the five walks he gave up. It was the Emperors bottom half of the lineup that got it going yesterday which is great for the team if it can continue. Keshawn Ogans picked up a 3 hit night last night, with Ambioris Tavarez connecting on an opposite field homer himself. Other players to watch include Will Verdung, Mason Guerra, and Justin Janas.
(32-48) Salem Red Sox @ (41-39) Augusta GreenJackets
Pitching Probables
SAL: Devin Futrell (0-2, 2.53 ERA)
AUG: David Rodriguez (3-2, 2.93 ERA)
The GreenJackets turn to David Rodriguez to keep the momentum going following their win last night. David is coming off of his best start of the season on July 2nd where he had a 3 hit, 6 inning shutout – striking out four and walking none. Since giving up 8 runs in his first three appearances, David has turned his season around having given up 5 earned runs over his last 13 appearances (3 starts). The GreenJackets high octane offense delivered, collecting 12 hits – led by likely the most talented top 7 in the organization. John Gil, Owen Carey, Luis Guanipa, Eric Hartman, Isaiah Drake, Nick Montgomery, and Colby Jones provide some of the best upside in the organization.
