Taking a look at the matchups on the farm for Saturday.
Durham Bulls @ Gwinnett Stripers – 6:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
DRM: TBD
GWI: Didier Fuentes (1-1, 4.96 ERA)
The Stripers come in on a high note after winning both ends of a doubleheader last night, despite of a shaky game from JR Ritchie. Tonight they take on Durham again and send out Didier Fuentes, who was excellent in his last time out. The Stripers and Fuentes will look to build on that momentum here. Offensively Nacho Alvarez and Luke Waddell each got on base a couple times yesterday, and that top of the lineup pairing will be key for the Gwinnett offense.
Columbus Clingstones @ Montgomery Biscuits – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
COL: Drue Hackenberg (1-4, 9.00 ERA)
MNT: Ty Johnson (4-4, 1.29 ERA)
The new look Columbus offense, featuring three new guys at the top of the order in Patrick Clohisy, Jim Jarvis, Lizandro Espinoza to go along with holdovers in David McCabe and Ethan Workinger was able to squeak out a 4-3 win last night. Drue Hackenberg will be on the mound in this one as he tries to right the ship in what has been an incredibly disappointing season for him with both health and performance.
Greensboro Grasshoppers @ Rome Emperors – 3:00 PM ET -Game 1
Pitching Probables
GRN: Connor Wietgrefe (4-3, 4.23 ERA)
ROM: TBD
Greensboro Grasshoppers @ Rome Emperors – TBD -Game 2
Pitching Probables
GRN: TBD
ROM: TBD
Speaking of new look teams, the new look Emperors won 6-0 yesterday behind strong debuts from Alex Lodise, Isaiah Drake, and Colby Jones and a good outing from Herick Hernandez. Lodise in particular stood out, recording a double and triple in his professional debut. Today they will play two, as they were scheduled for a doubleheader yesterday, but only got one in before the weather played a factor. In addition to that trio of newcomers, Logan Braunschweig and Cooper McMurray are also here and played yesterday, so there are plenty of new faces.
Carolina Mudcats @ Augusta GreenJackets – 6:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
CAR: Ethan Dorchies (0-0, 1.11 ERA)
AUG: Rayven Antonio (6-3, 3.39 ERA)
The GreenJackets exciting offense has been gutted by the minor league moves yesterday, but that didn’t stop them from putting up 12 runs in a win last night. Strong games by usual suspects Eric Hartman, and John Gil, plus recent addition Juan Mateo powered the offense. The Jackets also backfilled some of that offensive firepower when they added Cody Miller, Dixon Williams, Dallas Macias, and Hayden Friese, and Miller’s pro debut saw him record two hits – including a homer. Ace Rayven Antonio is on the mound for this one as they try to win another game with this interesting new group.
DSL Braves @ DSL Royals Ventura – 10:00 AM ET
Pitching Probables
ROY: TBD
BRA: TBD
The DSL Braves take on a Royals team today, and we can only hope Diego Tornes is back in the lineup after missing some time recently. Beyond Tornes, Juan Espinal and Angel Carmona are the guys most worth watching.
