The Atlanta Braves’ Triple-A affiliate, the Gwinnett Stripers, lost on Thursday night. There were some fireworks, though so here’s a look at how it went down on the farm.

The Gwinnett Stripers’ winning ways came to a halt after just one game. They fell 7-5 to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and are now 1-6 on the Final Stretch.

Here’s a look at how the Atlanta Braves’ Triple-A fared on Thursday night.

Gwinnett Stripers 5, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 7

Box score

  • Jose Rodriguez, SP: 5 IP, 10 H, 5 R (4 ER), 1 BB, 2 K
  • Thomas Burrows, RP: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2K
  • Johan Camargo, 3B: 3-for-5, 1 HR, 1 R, 2 RBI, .324 BA, .949 OPS
  • Cristian Pache, CF: 2-for-5, 1 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, .269 BA, .758 OPS

It was a typical Jose Rodriguez start in what is likely his last appearance of the 2021 season. He worked his way around some lightly hit singles in the first two innings, keeping the Jumbo Shrimp off the board. The third inning wasn’t so kind, though. The long ball did Rodriguez in, as he allowed a three-run blast to Lorenzo Quintana in the third and another solo shot in the fifth to Isan Diaz. Thomas Burrows lowered his 2021 ERA to 2.64 with a pair of scoreless innings to give Gwinnett a fighting chance, but Daysbel Hernandez had a rough go in his inning of work, allowing two runs including another RBI from Quintana.

Brooks Wilson came on to pitch the ninth. It was the fourth scoreless appearance in a row since allowing a run in his Gwinnett debut. It was the second time he struck out the side in his past three appearances. There is a lot to like about Wilson. He isn’t flashy but uses his off speed and splitter around the zone to clearly keep hitters on edge. He could be a name we hear in the Atlanta bullpen next season.

The Braves’ outfield duo of Drew Waters and Cristian Pache each got on base on Thursday night. Waters got one hit but did strikeout three times, including once in the ninth with two runners on base. Pache came up next and did not strike out. In fact, he did the opposite of that, absolutely crushing his 11th home run of the season.

Pache also scored one of the Stripers’ two runs on Johan Camargo’s sixth-inning blast. It was his 18th home run of the season, and he has put together a CamarGOAT year. After a 3-for-5 evening, he’s now slashing .324/.399/.551 with those 18 home runs and 66 RBI.

Next game: Friday, Oct. 1, 7:05 p.m. ET

Probable pitchers: Max Meyer (0-0, 1.80 ERA) vs. Kyle Muller (5-4, 3.40 ERA)
