Atlanta Braves skipper Brian Snitker announced that left-hander Aaron Bummer would start Saturday’s bullpen game against the Baltimore Orioles.

The 31-year-old southpaw has appeared in 28 games this season and has managed a 2.86 ERA. This afternoon’s matchup will mark his first career major league start.

The New York Yankees placed starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt on the 15-day injured list with right forearm tightness. He underwent an MRI Friday, and the team is still evaluating the scan.
The Chicago Cubs placed starting pitcher Jameson Taillon on the 15-day injured list with a right calf strain. He is expected to miss more than a month.
The Washington Nationals placed right-hander Trevor Williams on the 15-day injured list with an elbow sprain.
