A busy Sunday for the Braves.
Sunday was just the latest unfortunate chapter in what has become an unrelenting journey of struggles in 2025 for the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta lost 8-1 on Sunday, allowing the Rangers to complete the sweep of a Braves team that now at times is struggling just to make things competitive.
However, the more significant long term news is that the Braves did make a trade for veteran starter Eric Fedde from the Cardinals. However, to make room, Atlanta had to place starter Grant Holmes on the 60-Day IL. This not only likely signals the end to the 2025 season for Holmes, but with this move happening after Holmes complained about his elbow on Saturday night, it could indicate Holmes may be out for much longer. While Fedde will make his Braves debut on Tuesday, more news should be known about Holmes in the near future as well.
Braves Rumors
The Cubs reportedly have interest in Braves closer Rasiel Iglesias, who is one of many arms Chicago is considering to pursue.
A few notes from Bob Nightengale on the Braves. Marcell Ozuna is expected to be open to any trade and approve a move to a team that will play him everyday. Atalanta is expected to exercise the option for Ozzie Albies in the offseason, but could listen to trade offers for him.
Earlier on Sunday, the Braves had actually placed Holmes on the 15-day IL and recalled reliever Daysbel Hernandez to the majors.
Prospect Dave McCabe continues to have a highly impressive month of July in the minors.
