Braves emerge with a series win in showdown of MLB’s best.
It was not in the prettiest of fashions, but in a showdown of the MLB’s best teams, the Braves were able to win a competitive series over the weekend against the Guardians.
While Bryce Elder struggled at times in is start on Sunday and the Braves were down 3-1 entering the 8th inning, more late game heroics with two runs scored in the eighth inning led to a second straight game with extra innings. That is when Austin Riley delivered the game-winning hit in a 4-3 victory.
Just as encouraging as getting another comeback victory was the fact that Atlanta’s top of the order produced three of the four RBIs in the game. It was good to see both Riley and Matt Olson deliver big hits when needed on Sunday, especially with each of them working through recent struggles at the plate.
Braves News
Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. showed some power over the weekend on the farm for the Braves.
As the Braves start a series against the Mariners in Seattle on Monday, Justin Toscano of the AJC talked with former Mariner and current Brave Jarred Kelenic about his experiences early in his MLB career.
Though he has not had the best of recent results, it was good to see Austin Riley find success as his efforts have remained consistent in recent days.
