Atlanta Braves news and notes from Wednesday
The Braves lost a tough 2-1 game, as the offense (featuring Eddie Rosario for reasons that escape me) generally was absent. The offense was a little weird in general at Coors, as they went a three game stretch at the notoriously power-friendly ballpark without a homer. They scored plenty of runs on contact hitting, but I really hope this was just a weird three game stretch and not a pattern of seeking contact over power. I’m not going to be too upset about the Wednesday loss though, as they still took care of business and won the series. One bright spot is that Chris Sale looked like himself, finally, and that is what the Braves need moving forward. AJ Smith-Shawver also had his best start yet on Tuesday and if he can continue to progress, that would be huge for a Braves team that is already having it’s pitching depth tested.

Right-handed reliever Zach Thompson opted for free agency over an assignment to triple-A Gwinnett.
Some of the prospects that have started the season well, like JR Ritchie and David McCabe had another strong outing on Tuesday.
Chris Sale finally had a really good outing, but the offense no-showed at Coors in a 2-1 loss as the Rockies avoid being swept.
