Atlanta Braves news and notes from Friday.
The Atlanta Braves began the weekend series on a high note after a 6-2 defeat over the Cleveland Guardians on Friday. Several elements propelled the Braves to this win, including Chris Sale’s strong outing, Ozzie Albies’ return to the lineup, and Marcell Ozuna’s strong bat.
Chris Sale made an impressive start and tossed seven innings of one-run baseball. He surrendered just two hits, walked one, and struck out six. He threw 95 pitches, 67 of them coming in as strikes.

Things got back to normal for Ozzie Albies, too. The second baseman made an early return to the lineup after missing eight games due to a fractured toe. In four at-bats, Albies tallied two hits, recorded an RBI, and scored a run.
The Braves improved to 18-6 following Friday’s game and have won ten of their last eleven. The series continues tonight at 7:20 ET with Charlie Morton on the hill.
