Atlanta Braves news and notes from Saturday
Well the Braves won yet another low-scoring extra-innings affair on Saturday. AJ Smith-Shawver twirled another gem and the bullpen did more than it’s job, but man the offense was a struggle after a promising first three innings. The crazy part is that the offense can’t even really be credited with the winning run in the eleventh innings, as it was a groundout and a wild pitch that scored the runner. The Braves required two scoreless zombie-running innings from the bullpen and a lucky run to score to win Saturday’s game with three total runs. That’s a tough look from an offense that had looked like it had figured things out before plunging right back into painful impotence. Bless the pitching for keeping the team largely on track.
