Braves News: Ozzie Albies Delivers Go-Ahead Home Run In Win, Ian Anderson to Make Rehab Start, More

June 18, 2024 by Talking Chop

MLB: Detroit Tigers at Atlanta Braves
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Four out of five wins for the Braves as they get off to a nice start against the Tigers.

For much of Monday night, things seemed all too familiar for the Braves.

They got an excellent pitching performance from Max Fried, they were 0-8 at one point with runners in scoring position, but they still had their chances late. But then, Forrest Wall delivered a key hit and Ozzie Albies launched the go-ahead home run as the Braves earned a 2-1 win.

Sure, Atlanta has come from behind to win plenty of times this season against opposing bullpens. But even as the offense struggled tonight, Atlanta finding a way to win via the home run hopefully continues the trend of Atlanta utilizing its power potential on a more frequent basis.

In the first reveal of All-Star Votes, Marcell Ozuna is currently the only Brave in line to have a chance at starting for the National League. Ozuna is second behind Shohei Ohtani for the DH spot. This is not surprising considering the struggles of the Braves offense this year.

MLB News

Marcell Ozuna trails Shohei Ohtani and Bryce Harper in the latest MVP Poll from mlb.com. Ozuna continues to be one of the best offensive producers in the game.

Ohtani found a new home at the lead-off spot but helped lead the Dodgers win in their first game without Mookie Betts. Betts is expected to miss 6-8 weeks of action.

Paul Skenes was dominant again in the Braves 4-1 victory over the Reds.

The Phillies got back to their winning ways as Trea Turner returned in a 9-2 victory over the Padres.

The full list of leaders in the first update of the 2024 All-Star vote was revealed.

The A’s designated JD Davis for assignment. Davis began the season with the Giants.

The Rangers, now six games below .500, expect Max Scherzer to make his next start at the major league level and Jacob deGrom to return to an MLB mound in August.
