Atlanta Braves news and notes from Tuesday.
Spencer Strider made his return on Tuesday as the Atlanta Braves fell to the Washington Nationals 5-3. It was Strider’s first start since April 16, where he went down with a hamstring injury.
He surrendered three runs to the Nats in the first inning, but fortunately, the Atlanta offense picked him up and tied the ballgame in the second. The bats couldn’t keep up, though, and Strider finished his night after 4.1 innings, giving up four runs, walking one, and striking out three.
#Braves‘ Strider maxed out w/ four 4-seam fastballs at 96.5-97.0 mph tonight, all in 1st inning.
In 3rd inning, threw eight 4-seamers, seven at 93.0 to 94.7, one at 95.6
In 4th, threw five 4-seamers, four from 92.6 to 93.5, the other 95.2.
