Atlanta Braves news and notes from Thursday.

Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider is continuing to improve after the hamstring injury that sidelined him in April. On Wednesday, he threw a bullpen session and confirmed that he will throw another on Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Spencer Strider says he feels great after his bullpen session yesterday. He will throw another one on Saturday in Pittsburgh.

After his session on Saturday, the team will discuss whether or not a rehab assignment is necessary. Strider has only been able to make one appearance this season, but hopefully he is on the mend and will be back in the rotation shortly.

More Braves News:

The Braves walked it off against the Cincinnati Reds once again, courtesy of Drake Baldwin.

Ethan Workinger tallied two home runs for the Columbus Clingstones on Wednesday. More in the minor league recap.

MLB News:

The Pittsburgh Pirates have fired manager Derek Shelton after a 12-26 start. Bench coach Don Kelly will take over as skipper.

The Cincinnati Reds will place right-hander Hunter Greene on the injured list due to a Grade 1 right groin strain.
