A busy day ahead for the Braves as All-Star week begins in Atlanta
Yes, the Braves ended a tremendously disappointing first half of the 2025 season with another 1-run loss, this time a 5-4 loss to the Cardinals in a game that took nearly 7 hours to complete (multiple rain delays.)
However, the eyes of many in Braves Country became focused on Atlanta as All-Star festivities continued and the 2025 MLB Draft began on Sunday. And for Day 1, Atlanta left little doubt as where their focus centered. Headlined by first round pick Tate Southisene, the Braves selected three shortstops. With the need for position players all around, the Braves made selections that have shown intriguing skills at the plate. But also, they added talent that could help all around the diamond defensively in the future. After picking so much pitching in the past, the Braves made some solid and sensible selections on Day 1 of the draft. And with a few of the picks potentially under slot, that could mean some more intriguing picks on Day 2.
