Grand opening, grand closing for Dylan Dodd in Atlanta.
Ahead of the weekend series against the Red Sox, the Atlanta Braves made an interesting pair of moves. First, they optioned Bryce Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett before eventually calling up Dylan Dodd as the corresponding move.
Well, Dodd’s stint with the big league Braves ended up being a short one as the Braves announced after their win on Sunday that Dodd had been optioned back down to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Braves had brought Dylan Dodd up as a left-handed option out of the bullpen and solely for this weekend series as well, as it was pretty clear that this was all just away to make sure that the Braves had a full compliment of pitchers ready to go for this series in Boston. Now that the series has come and gone, Dodd is going back down to the Gwinnett Stripers as it’s apparent that Spencer Strider is going to be the one to replace Bryce Elder in the rotation.
Dodd hasn’t made an appearance at the major league level for the Braves since August 2024 and that was his only appearance last season after making seven starts in 2023.
