Atlanta adds a fresh arm for the weekend series in Boston.
The Atlanta Braves have recalled left-handed pitcher Dylan Dodd from Triple-A. He will join the team in Boston to add a fresh arm to the team’s bullpen. The move comes after the team optioned starting pitcher Bryce Elder to Gwinnett.

This will be Dodd’s first stint in Atlanta this season. The 26 year-old appeared in one game last season for Atlanta but made seven starts for the Braves in 2023. Dodd has not had success in his big league career, thus far, but after spending his minor league career as a starting pitcher, the Braves have used him exclusively out of the bullpen for the Stripers in 2025. For his big league career, he has 7.68 ERA in 36.1 inning with a 6.33 xFIP and 9.8-percent strikeout rate.
With Gwinnett, Dodd has appeared in 16 games, pitching 15.2 inning with an impressive 31.3-percent strikeout rate while carrying 4.5-percent walk rate and a 2.79 xFIP. His strikeout and walk rates are the best he has put-up in the minors since 2021.
With the Braves likely to activate starting pitcher Spencer Strider from the 15-day IL in the coming days, Dodd gives the team another arm out of the bullpen after Elder started on Wednesday.
Dodd, like Elder, has options remaining making him the likely candidate to head back to the minors when Strider is activated.
If Dodd sees action with the Braves, he will be the 23rd pitcher to make an appearance for Atlanta this year. The Braves used 28 pitchers and two position players on the mound in 2024.
