Everything is quiet but the Braves are reportedly still looking for upgrades.

We are just over five hours away from the MLB Trade Deadline and the clock is ticking for the Atlanta Braves who will enter play Friday just four games behind the New York Mets in the NL East standings. In the lead up to the deadline, the Braves have maintained that they are looking to add to the roster and were not planning to sell.

MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reports Friday morning that Atlanta is looking for bullpen help and a bat.

Braves, very much in this at 4 back in NL East despite all the misfortunes, are buyers looking for bullpen help and a bat.

Atlanta’s rotation has stabilized in recent weeks even with an injury to Ian Anderson so focusing on the bullpen, which has been inconsistent at best this season, would appear to be the top priority. The team could also use some offensive reinforcements as well, particularly in the outfield where they have lost their entire group from Opening Day.

Of course it remains to be seen if anything materializes before the deadline and there is no indication of who they are targeting. While Atlanta is within striking distance of the division, they have had a difficult stringing together any form of sustained success this season as their 51-52 record entering today shows so the question remains as to how aggressive they will really be.
