Atlanta welcomes the boys from Queens for a division showdown.
The Atlanta Braves got a day off before they ready themselves for the last games of Spring in a critical match-up against the New York Mets.
The importance of the series for the Braves is less about the Mets, who lead the NL East and are many, many furlongs ahead of Atlanta. The Braves need to stack wins-on-wins-on-wins to try to claw their way out of the second hole they’ve dug themselves in this season.
Atlanta is coming off a series vicotry against the Colorado Rockies but are still eight games below .500 after dropping the final contest to the Rockies on Sunday.. The Braves can’t get all the wins they needs back at one time but they have to win series-after-series to get back into Wild Card contention.
New York comes calling with the most wins in the National League and the Braves shuffled their rotation to give them a better shot at the Mets – sliding Chris Sale back from his scheduled Sunday start against the Rockies.
Can the Braves at least take two of the three games against the Mets? It will be a tough task.
