Atlanta bats need to keep boppin’ against the Marlins.
The Atlanta Braves picked up another critical series win after sweeping their match-up against the division-leading New York Mets. The Braves stay in the division this weekend by heading south for a series with the cellar-dwelling Miami Marlins.
The refrain is the same for Atlanta. They need to, at minimum, win the three-game match-up as they still have the fifth-worst record in the National League and have five teams ahead of them in the Wild Card race.
Friday night may see the debut of Atlanta starting pitching prospect Didier Fuentes, who just turned 20-years-old on June 17th. It may only be a one-off start, but it will be exciting to watch his major league debut.
As for the rest of the weekend, the Braves will see if their bats can keep boppin’ as they try to win their fourth consecutive series after stacking up wins against the Brewers, Rockies and Mets.
Miami is rebuilding, yet again. Their line-up isn’t great and their pitching isn’t either, so on paper, Atlanta should be favorites to take the series. Hopefully that becomes a reality come Sunday.
Here are the start times for each of this weekend’s games against the Marlins.
- Friday, June 20 – 7:10 PM EDT
- Saturday, June 21 – 4:10 PM EDT
- Sunday, June 22 – 1:40 PM EDT
