As I discussed in the game preview, which can be read here, the Braves are in the midst of a relatively soft portion of their schedule and it’s crucial that they capitalize on the opportunity to stack up wins against weaker opponents as they have so far during this stretch. The Nationals, Marlins, and Rockies all coming to Atlanta is about as favorable of a stretch as there is in baseball at the moment. The Phillies notoriously have an incredibly easy schedule for the remainder of the season and the Braves have some tough opponents, making this stretch especially important.
As for the game itself, the recently extended Charlie Morton takes the mound for the Braves, as Dansby Swanson returns to the lineup after getting the day off. Meanwhile, the Marlins will send out Elieser Hernandez to the mound on their side.
