Atlanta’s manager will be in the dugout while the Braves host the Midsummer Classic.
There’s still a very big and important question when it comes to trying to figure out just how many Atlanta Braves players will actually be on the field once the All-Star Game rolls around next month. The Braves are hosting and before the season started, it would’ve been feasible to imagine a handful of Braves players making it. Now, it’s looking like the Braves may end up with just the sole required representative making it as the Braves have been scuffling to start this season.
With that being said, we at least got a guarantee that the Braves will have a representative in the dugout during the game. Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts will be representing the NL as manager since the Dodgers won the pennant last season, which means that he’s in charge of picking a couple of honorary members to work alongside his coaching staff. Roberts chose current Marlins manager and former Dodgers first base coach Clayton McCullough and none other than Brian Snitker as the two honorary members of his coaching staff for the 2025 All-Star Game.

For Snitker, this will be his third go-around on an All-Star coaching staff. Dave Roberts picked him for his coaching staff when he was the manager back in 2019, Snitker himself was the manager in 2022 and now Roberts has picked him again. Naturally, I’m a Braves fan so I’m biased but this is a perfect choice by Dave Roberts. Snitker may not be having a great season with the Braves at the moment but considering how long he’s been in Atlanta’s organization and also considering the fact that there appears to be a decent enough chance that this could be Snitker’s final season as Braves manager, giving Snitker this opportunity to be properly recognized at the All-Star Game in front of his home crowd is a great move on Roberts’ part.
Meanwhile on the American League side of things, Yankees manager Aaron Boone invited old friend and Guardians manager Stephen Vogt as an honorary member. He also thought outside of the box and brought back former Yankees manager and World Series winner Joe Torre to the staff as well. Torre also has history with the Braves as he played three really good seasons with the Braves from 1966 through 1968 and managed the Braves from 1982 through 1984. We won’t talk about what happened when Torre ran into the Braves in a pair of World Series matchups during the 1990s but I will say that it’s good to see him back in the dugout again.
