The Braves are looking to extend their winning streak to four-straight games Friday night.
The Atlanta Braves will try to make it four-straight wins Friday night when they begin a three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians. Atlanta is 5-1 on their current nine-game homestand and enter play Friday with a 17-6 record. Cleveland is 18-7 on the season and lead the AL Central by 2.5 games. Chris Sale will get the start for the Braves Friday night while the Guardians will go with left-hander Logan Allen.
Atlanta’s rotation appears to be finding a groove after a difficult start to the season. Chris Sale will start Friday night’s opener on two extra days of rest. The Braves starters have logged at least six innings in five of their last six games. Sale started that streak last Friday when he allowed three runs over seven innings to go along with seven strikeouts against the Rangers. It was the second straight start where Sale has logged seven innings.
Allen will make his sixth start of the season for the Guardians in Friday’s opener. It has been a bit of an uneven start to the season for Allen who allowed three runs over 5 1⁄3 innings against Oakland last time out. He allowed three runs over his first 11 2⁄3 innings in 2024. Since then, he has allowed 12 runs over his last 15 innings.
Travis d’Arnaud has had a huge homestand going 8-for-13 with a double, five homers and 11 RBIs in six games. Michael Harris had the game winner on Wednesday and is scorching as well going 12-for-25 with a homer, two doubles and has also picked up four stolen bases.
The Braves are expected to get back Ozzie Albies in time for Friday’s game. Atlanta outrighted veteran infielder David Fletcher to Gwinnett on Thursday which opened a spot on the active roster. Albies has missed the last eight games while recovering from a fractured toe that he suffered on a hit by pitch in Houston on the last road trip.
Friday’s game is slated to get underway at 7:20 p.m. ET and can be seen on Bally Sports South.
