Days off galore for the Braves after clincher

Freeman, Duvall, Soler, Swanson, and d’Arnaud grab a breather

We don’t have giant September rosters anymore, so the Braves will likely rotate some off-days for all the regulars over the next few days. Today, it’s Freddie Freeman, Jorge Soler, Adam Duvall, Dansby Swanson, and Travis d’Arnaud getting a break.

Here’s how the #Braves will line up tonight vs. the Mets!

In terms of starts for the Braves, it’s kind of amusing:

  • Pederson: 19th in RF, 18th at leadoff;
  • Adrianza: seventh at 3B, first time hitting second;
  • Arcia: second at SS;
  • Heredia: 81st in CF, 21st time hitting seventh; and
  • Contreras: 45th at C, eighth time hitting eighth.

It’s also Austin Riley’s third start at first base on the season.

The Mets, meanwhile, are strewn together this way:

It’s also a new lineup for them, yes, even in Game 160. This is also, from what I can tell, the first time Jose Peraza and Javy Baez have started together in the same infield for the Mets, so that’s kind of bizarre.

I guess we can do a Statcast graphic, too?

2021, of course, has been another full-on Mets-ing season. The Mets and Braves, on a team level, are separated by less than 3 fWAR… but 10 wins.

Also, I keep forgetting this because it’s not really relevant, but the Braves are going for their seventh win in a row tonight. Maybe they’ll get it!
