Did Michael Harris hit the most unexpected Braves home run this decade?

That came out of nowhere, and helped open the floodgates

Well, that was fun. Michael Harris II went off last night in the sixth inning with a game-tying home run into the Chop House. The Braves had only four 3-run home runs this season coming into the game. I watched it thinking a home run was a possibility, Michael made it a certainty. Marcell Ozuna followed up with a 3-run home run the next inning, and the Braves were running toward a blowout.

Did Michael Harris hit the most unexpected Braves home run this decade? I don’t know, but it was definitely welcome. I fully expected anything to happen except a home run there. The ball had an exit velocity of 98.7 MPH and a launch angle of 32 degrees. In 2025, balls with those numbers are hit 362 feet and have a 18.2% chance of being a hit. Michael, however, crushed his for 394 feet.

I do remember this Ozzie Albies home run from August 2021.

The Braves were leading this game 5-2 in the eighth, but let it get away from them late. I remember working at my laptop and glancing up at the screen every now and then. The energy was pretty low at Truist Park among the fans that remained. The fans were resigned to their fate. Ozzie made it happen with their last breath.

Can we do that again please and thank you.
