Fuentes is on the AJ Smith-Shawver track, it seems
There have been rustlings of this news this afternoon. Mark Bowman is the latest and the most cromulent source to confirm.
Didier Fuentes will join the Braves tomorrow to start against the Marlins. Fuentes is a 20-year-old prospect who has 48 strikeouts and 12 walks over 39.1 IP at three different levels this year. His addition allows the Braves to give everyone an extra day of rest the next turn

Freshly off his 20th birthday, Didier Fuentes will join Atlanta in Miami where he will start against the Marlins. Major League Baseball will be his fourth level in two months. He hasn’t blinked at any of them. His line is a 4.81/2.81/.338 over 39.1 IP with nearly 11 strikeouts per nine innings. The Braves minor league is not really my beat, and I’m sure one of the staff will be along to introduce him fully in the next 24 hours.
Listen, if a young minor league player is capable of playing in Atlanta, the Braves will promote you. They are not shy about pushing their high rising prospects up to The Show. AJ Smith-Shawver can testify to that, as he had a similar trajectory to Didier Fuentes last year.
In addition to the Braves getting pitching help, this allows them to bump the rotation back a day so that Schwellenbach, Sale, and Strider get turns against the Mets. Let’s hope this bump pays off more than the last.
