The Braves have a lovely set of catchers
The Atlanta Braves were definitely in an austere state of mind over the postseason. They moved on from Travis d’Arnaud over the winter, placing primary catcher duties with Sean Murphy and Drake Baldwin as backup. The results are pretty good so far. The Braves catchers are second in WAR, second in wOBA, and second in home runs. Drake Baldwin had very little to prove in AAA in 2025, and he’s showing out at the big league level.
So did the Travis d’Arnaud option decline work out? He had a solid 2024 with Atlanta, but he’s off to a slow start with the Angels. The penny-pinching approach is working out so far for the catchers. Not so much for the bullpen, though.
